Цель семинара — представить основные положения из трактата Франческо Антонио Марчелли, который являются основополагающими для римской школы фехтования.
В процессе семинара рассматривается практика других итальянских мастеров, которых можно отнести к традиции “Римской школы” и сравнение их с мастерами «старой рапиры».
По мнению Mаэстро Франческо Лода именно Римская и неаполитанская традиция фехтования можно считать подлинной “итальянской школой” фехтования, оказавшей влияние на историю фехтования вплоть до наших дней.
Класс будет включать вводную часть об основах фехтования, другую часть об основных движениях первого и второго намерения, и как развивать тактический подход с использованием движений Контратемпо.
С методологической стороны урок представит некоторые оригинальные упражнения и упражнения, практиковавшиеся старыми Маэстро римской Школы для обучения их студентов.
Семинар будет полезен также людям с малым опытом в рапире.
Требования: маска на 1600 Н, фехтовальная куртка, защита груди/паха, нагрудник (plastron или подобный), фехтовальные перчатки или подобие, рапира. Фехтовальные бриджи и защита горла рекомендуются.
О Франческо Лода
Mаэстро Франческо Лода – основатель и президент Accademia Romana d’Armi в Риме. Также он является президентом и представителем A.I.M.A. – Italian Master-at-Arms Association, delegate member of the HEMA national board in F.I.S. – Italian Fencing Federation and U.I.S.P. – Italian National Sport Union, and National responsible for Rapier/Rapier & Dagger in F.I.S.
Франческо Лода награжден почетными титулами маэстро: Maestro d’Arme A.I.M.A., Maestro di scherma storica U.I.S.P., Istruttore Nazionale di Scherma Storica F.I.S. – A.N.S., Athletical Trainer C.O.N.I.
С 2004 по 2015 гг. Франческо Лода принимал участие во всех основных турнирах Италии, Европы и США – F.I.S., CSEN, SWORDFISH, HEMAC-DIJON, RAPIER, UISP, WMAW, FISAS в номинации фехтование на рапире.
Франческо Лода завоевал больше всех в мире наград: 27 золотых медалей, 4 серебряные, 4 бронзовые медали, and 2 специальных приза.
Кроме этого, Франческо Лода занимается наукой, готовит докторскую диссертацию по истории, занимаясь в университете в Тулузе и в Риме. Область его интересов – древние религии, индоевропеизм, историография XX века.
Франческо Лода является автором ряда книг по историческому фехтованию.
В 2014 году в Палермо было издано его “Руководство по фехтованию на рапире: Римская-Неаполитанская-Сицилийская школа”.
О Римской школе фехтования
“В 1686 Франческо Антонио Марчелли (Francesco Antonio Marcelli) написал один из самых важных фехтовальных трактатов, в котором дал оригинальное и полное изложение системы римской школы фехтования.
Эта школа была основана и разработана членами его семьи с середины семнадцатого до середины девятнадцатого века в Риме и Италии.
Но начало родословной римской школы можно проследить с конца XVI века от Винченцо (Vincentio) и Франческино (Franceschino), затем Орсино Лелльо (Orsino Lellio) и Джовани Баттиста (Giovan Battista).
До Франческо Антонио эту систему разрабатывали по меньшей мере три поколений (согласно документам, но вероятно больше).
Маэстро и их ученики способствовали распространению своей системы фехтования, чтобы создать настоящую Римскую традицию и Школу.
Представитель «второго поколения» – Джован Баттиста Марчелли (Giovan Battista Marcelli) отправился в Южное Королевство, Неаполь. In 1686, Francesco Antonio Marcelli wrote possibly one of the most important fencing manuals, giving us a complete, personal interpretation of the Roman school, the system established and developed by his family in Rome and Italy from the mid-Seventeenth to the mid-Nineteenth Century; alongside F. A. Marcelli, or to be more accurate, before him we can take a look on the tradition established in Rome by his family from the end of XVIth Century through his time; a true lineage, starting from Vincentio and Franceschino, then Orsino Lellio and Giovan Battista, to arrive to Francesco Antonio, crossing at least three generations (given by the documents, but probably more). Aside the family, a strong company of disciples, and then Maestri themselves, contributed to spread their teachings to create a real, Roman tradition and School.
After a while and during the “second generation”, Giovan Battista Marcelli went to the Southern Kingdom, Neaples, to establish there his personal school, defeat the preview traditions and create, in short time, what is called as the Napolitean School; so, some year later, a student of him move to Sicily and create there a strong branch, the so-called “Sicilian” school, sister of the Napolitean and daughter of the Roman one.
This workshop aims to present some of the principal teachings of Francesco Antonio Marcelli, surely the most complete theoretician of the system, and the way they match with the other authors of the tradition that takes the name of “Roman School”; then, the teachings will be compared with those of the “old rapier” authors. Finally, it will be showed the influence of the Roman School in the history of fencing up to present; given this, it will be explained why at this moment of the research it is correct to talk about the Roman and Napolitean traditions as the unic, real “italian school” of fencing, compared to a large number of very good, but isolated, authors of the same periods.
The class will include an introductive part on the basics, another part on the main actions of the first intention and second intention, and how to develop the tactical approach with the use of Contratempo’s actions.
On a methodological side, the lesson will present some of the original drills and exercises practiced by the old Maestri of the Roman School to teach their students.
The class will be joinable also from people with low experience in rapier.
Requirements: 1600 N. mask, fencing jacket, breast/groin protection, chest protector (plastron or similar), fencing gloves or similar, rapier. Fencing breeches and throat protection recommended.

M° FRANCESCO LODÁ
Francesco Lodà started his career in historical fencing in 1999, establishing the fencing club ASD Accademia Romana d’Armi-Scherma Storica Roma in 2001. As a teacher and trainer, he has reached so far the following main titles and appointments: Maestro d’Arme A.I.M.A., Maestro di scherma storica U.I.S.P., Istruttore Nazionale di Scherma Storica F.I.S. – A.N.S., Athletical Trainer C.O.N.I., plus several others.
As sport executive, he is President of A.I.M.A. – Italian Master-at-Arms Association, delegate member of the HEMA national board in F.I.S. – Italian Fencing Federation and U.I.S.P. – Italian National Sport Union, and National responsible for Rapier/Rapier & Dagger in F.I.S.
As an athlete, through 2004 and 2015, he has placed prominently in all the national and international rapier tournaments he joined in Europe and U.S.A., including F.I.S., CSEN, SWORDFISH, HEMAC-DIJON, RAPIER, UISP, WMAW, FISAS, gaining 27 gold, 4 silver, 4 bronze medals and 2 technical prize medals, resulting as the world most rewarded athlete for rapier fencing.
As a researcher, he follows a doctorate in History at the University of Toulouse and Rome (ancient religions, indo-Europeanism, and the historiography of the twentieth century). With regards to fencing, he published:
